They also need to be able to build a sense of identity among their citizens, so that they feel connected to their country and its government. SPS can help governments build strategies and policies for values and identity. We have a team of experts with experience in values and identity from public policy and social psychology perspectives. We can help you:

  • Define the values and how they will guide your policies

  • Develop a strategy to promote the values and identity

  • Implement programs and initiatives that support values

  • Measure the impact of your policies on values and identity

Intercultural Dialogue

  • Our world is increasingly diverse, with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs interacting more than ever before. This presents both opportunities and challenges. While diversity can enrich our lives and broaden our perspectives, it can also lead to misunderstandings, polarization & conflict.

  • We bridge the gaps in through "reciprocal dialogue," weaving social exchanges into intricate tapestries of understanding. We help developing lively conversations where empathy replaces stereotypes, and shared stories replace assumptions. We equip individuals and communities with the tools to navigate cultural nuances, listen deeply, and find common ground. Through workshops and exchange programs, we spark connections, fostering a world where respect and collaboration blossom on the fertile ground of mutual understanding.

Empowering the Most Vulnerable

  • Empowering the most vulnerable means giving them the tools and resources they need to take control of their lives and reach their full potential. This can be done through a variety of initiatives, such as providing access to education, healthcare, and financial services. It can also involve addressing the root causes of vulnerability, such as poverty, discrimination, lack of access, neglect and violence.

  • There are many benefits to empowering the most vulnerable. For individuals, it can lead to improved wellbeing, education, and economic opportunities. For communities, it can reduce crime, violence, and social unrest. It can create a more just and equitable world. We help governments to design policies for different vulnerable groups and we assess the impact accordingly.

Sustainable Development

  • Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is about finding a balance between economic growth, environmental protection, and social equity.

  • Sustainable development is important because it is the only way to ensure that we can meet the needs of the growing population without destroying the planet. It is also the only way to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to live a good life.

  • We do focus on SDGs that are people-centered. We help governments to develop policies to mainstream SDGs in the local development agendas taking into account different national contexts.

Maternity Protection

  • Maternity protection refers to the rights and benefits that are granted to pregnant women and new mothers in the workplace. These rights and benefits can include paid maternity leave, job security, and access to healthcare.

  • Maternity protection is important because it helps to ensure that pregnant women and new mothers can take the time they need to recover from childbirth and care for their babies without losing their jobs or their income. It also helps to ensure that women have equal opportunities in the workplace.

  • We follow the ILO Maternity Protection Policy Framework and help governments and employers to develop family friendly workplace policies that can protect mothers and empower individuals and families, as well as increase productivity and performance.

Adolescents and Youth Empowerment

  • Adolescence is a time of great change and development. Young people are exploring their identity, forming relationships, and making decisions about their future. During this time, it is important for young people to feel empowered within their families and communities to make their own choices.

  • Transition to adulthood is critical for cohesive families and societies. Hence, investing in protection and wellbeing programs, and employment policies is fundamental.

  • Empowering adolescents can be done through a variety of initiatives, such as providing access to quality education and healthcare, creating safe and supportive family and community environments, and giving young people opportunities to participate in decision-making and leadership.

Elderly and Active Ageing

  • Empowering the elderly: Empowering the elderly means giving them the tools and resources they need to take control of their lives and reach their full potential in their later years. This can be done through a variety of initiatives, such as providing access to healthcare, transportation, and financial assistance. It can also involve addressing the root causes of vulnerability in old age, such as poverty, discrimination, and social isolation.

  • Active ageing: Active ageing is the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation, and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age. It is about enabling people to remain physically and mentally active, engaged in society, and contributing to their communities.

Urbanization and Social Dynamics

  • Urbanization is the process of people moving from rural to urban areas. This is a global trend that has been happening for centuries, but it has accelerated in recent decades. Today, more than half of the world's population lives in urban areas, and this number is expected to continue to grow.

  • Urbanization has a profound impact on social dynamics. It can lead to changes in family structure, social norms, and economic opportunities. It can also create new challenges, such as poverty, crime, and environmental degradation.

  • We help governments and concerned authorities to understand these dilemmas. We present the good practices around the globe and develop context-based solutions.

Disability Inclusion and Empowerment

  • Disability inclusion and empowerment refers to the process of ensuring that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. This includes access to education, employment, healthcare, and other essential services. It also means creating a society where people with disabilities are valued and respected.

  • Disability inclusion and empowerment is important because it helps to create a more just and equitable society. It also helps to ensure that people with disabilities can live their lives to the fullest potential.

  • We have specialized expertise in conceptualizing disability inclusiveness and empowerment strategies, policies and programs, not only by following CRPD, UNICEF and ILO modalities, but also be ensuring contextual relevance and mainstreaming multi-sectorial approaches.

Welfare Policies

  • Welfare policies usually refer to the government programs that provide financial assistance and other support to people who are low-income, unemployed, or otherwise unable to meet their basic needs. These policies can help to reduce poverty, improve well-being, and promote social justice.

  • These programs include: income support, social security, safety nets, food assistance, housing assistance, healthcare assistance, and others.

  • Yet, SPS team sees welfare as a larger concept than people in need. We look at it from broader wellbeing perspective. We benchmark the happiness and welfare state policies around the globe and study in-depth indicators in different societies to provide contextually relevant welfare modeling.

Juvenile and Justice

  • Juvenile justice is a system of laws and processes that are designed to deal with minors who have committed crimes. The juvenile justice system is different from the adult criminal justice system in a number of ways. For example, the juvenile justice system focuses on rehabilitation rather than punishment. We work on three differnt mechanisms:

  1. Developing and promoting international labor standards on juvenile justice.  These standards include the Minimum Age Convention, 1973 (No. 138), and the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention, 1999 (No. 182).

  2. Providing technical assistance to governments and employers on juvenile justice.

  3. Raising awareness of juvenile justice issues and promoting positive attitudes towards juvenile justice
